What are the Benefits of Niche Content Marketing?

77% of US adults now own a smartphone, up from just 35% in 2011. We live in the age of unlimited information, all available at the simple touch of our fingertips. In this world, it is tempting to ensure your content is as varied as possible so that it appeals to as wide a potential audience as possible. However, by attempting to appeal to everyone, it's more likely you will appeal to no one.

Instead, focus on niche content.

What is niche content?

Niche content is exactly what it sounds like, it is specific content focused on one particular area. When trying to establish yourself as a market leader, writing about what you know best is the fastest way to garner respect both within the industry and within the wider 'google-sphere'.

By writing a more engaging, informed piece of content, you offer more value to your readers and they will be more likely to share the knowledge gained, thus improving your reputation.

How will niche content benefit us?

If you don't have specialized content, you do not add value to your audience and subsequently, your future audience will shrink. Indeed it can even take longer to create the content if you are writing about something you do not truly consider yourself an expert. You're expending energy and wasting time in order to become less valuable, the opposite of your business plan!

Instead, you should focus on creating content which will appeal to your Minimal Viable Audience (MVA). Focusing on your MVA will force you to become specialized in your content creation, and from this, your audience of potential clients will continue to grow!

How can I select my niche?

This is the easiest part of all! Simply pick a topic that you are passionate about. As Confucius said, "Choose a job you love and you will never work a day in your life." Although this remains surprisingly difficult advice to live by, it is incredibly easy advice to follow with regards to content!

Do you enjoy making videos? Then don't waste your time writing a blog. Would you consider yourself a technology expert? Then don't try to write about sales.

Simply focus on what you enjoy and what you are good at, the rest will follow.

As an even wiser person once said, "Build it and they will come!"
